Description

This is my final project for an animation class. This was done in flash and photoshop.

The criteria:
Keep it as close to 15 seconds (title card excluded)
It should work without sound

Yeah that's not a whole lot is it?

Shoot For The Moon is a play on the phrase which means to 'attain great heights'. But in this case, it's taken literally.

Title card, is a parody of the old Dreamworks logo which seems appropriate enough. Now that I think about it, it's probably a bit off for Paul to use an axe as a fishing pole (0.0 It looks dangerous)

So what happens is that Paul noticed something is behind him, and it's the Big Bad Wolf. Apparently the full moon turns him into a fierce beast. Paul however decides to shatter the moon by shattering by hitting it with a rock and drain the wolf of his powers.

The context: 
Paul is one of those characters where they remain unscathed when it comes to slapstick. Just like Morticia from Addams Family and Jerry from Tom and Jerry (For the most part). He knows how to turn jokes back at others. The Big Bad Wolf has never been able to lay a finger on him, and so he challenges him. Sadly, he's one of those characters that don't win very often in a slapstick battle, like Tom from Tom and Jerry for the most part.

It wasn't easy to get this done. 

Storytelling wise, considering the short time limit, comedy will have the most entertainment factor. You can make someone laugh is a really short time if done right. The 15 sec really puts a limit on your creativity. Well, in some ways it is. You know those commercials on TV? They do wonders with just 30 sec or even 15 secs. It's short but condensed and comprehensible. I guess the time limit forces you to get the essentials first. Longer means more work for me to do anyway. DX Just doing 15 secs is already killing me.

Animation wise, trying to do beautiful Disney-esque animation takes a long time. Every drawing was all made from scratch, frame by frame. First get the movement and timing right, then filling in the details. You'll also have to check for proportions and making sure everything is in the right place. I could be spending at least 4 hours drawing for a 2 second animation. And don't forget about the color, it makes things more tedious than it already is. The background, it's fairly simple. I just create a like 2 backgrounds from scratch and use them to create the rest. Cutting and pasting different parts so it fit my layouts. 

Despite the hard work for such a short scene, I can't help but feel satisfied from all the hard work I put in. Hopefully I get better. When I do, I may do animation commissions (;p which will NOT be cheap)

Though I think I can improve on it. I may considering doing an extensive revision under the 'director's cut' label, which will included improved pacing and redrawn animation. But for now, this will have to do.
